Bene @ DLD10

The mood at this year’s DLD (Digital Life Design) Conference is best described by quoting the adventurer and scientist Bertrand Piccard: "I did it because I could not imagine how it would not be possible to do it."

The mood at this year’s DLD (Digital Life Design) Conference is best described by quoting the adventurer and scientist Bertrand Piccard: "I did it because I could not imagine how it would not be possible to do it."

Leading prophetic thinkers, distinguished experts in their fields and successful entrepreneurs discussed the burning issues of the 21st century and their consequences under the auspices of Hubert Burda and Yossi Vardi in a sixth consecutive ideas forum of this series.

Content was the umbrella theme this year: points discussed were the impartiality of articles in Wikipedia (Jimmy Wales), on the excess of information in the panel Informavore with Frank Schirrmacher (FAZ), Andrian Kreye (SZ) and David Gelernter, on politics at Google in the discussion Strategy – or simply on "Content" itself in the discussion hosted by Jeff Jarvis.
And the discussion also focussed as a matter of course on how the content industry produces demanding contents and can create a business model from them.
An interesting statement on the theme can be found in the German language blog by Richard Gutjahr, who discussed paid content with Jeff Jarvis on the DLD fringe: Wo Jarvis irrt - oder: What would Apple do?

But to return to Bertrand Piccard. He presented his vision of a "zero energy" aircraft and the project with the title Solar Impulse created for to realise it on the third and last day. In his presentation, which originally had nothing to do with digital media, he showed how social added value can be created by means of a vision that can also serve as an example for the entrepreneurs of the new media.

For everyone on the lookout for inspiration along these lines, or simply for a look back at one of the presentations. All the panels were filmed and they are available on the DLD Website.

Bene Partnership

Bene has equipped DLD ever since it was started and thus makes its own active contribution to the optimal implementation of this unique idea. In attendance this time were the PARCS Toguna and the PARCS Wing Sofa in the lounge, the Filo-Table and Filo-Chair in the team room, Coffice in the role of the blogger bench, Rondo in the media center and Innovation C by Blå Station on the main stage.
