Architecture Internet Prize 2001

...and the winners are...

A concept for Berlin's dead tunnels should be found at the architecture internet price of BauNetz, bausolution and ZDFonline/aspects. The wide range of contributions reached from flash encouraged film contributions up to interactively arranged and thoroughly practicable usage concepts. The variety of high-quality ideas didn't simplify the work of the jury.

Within the last one hundred years, Berlin's subway has produced numerous parts which were never used and lie under the city without any task. The organizers of the architecture internet price - taking place every year - saw it as a challenge and creative topic to bring new life to those tunnels - only virtual in the first step. The participants should connect architecture and internet.

Whether scooter pipe or tunnel dance: The "dead tunnels" can optimistically look into the future now - at least according to the performances of the winner team of the 5th architecture internet price. The winners wett.net have managed to develop a new usage concept for the never used network of tunnels. It is the idea to put different sports places into the tubes. People can compete fairly against each other. The competitions take place in the "pearl lake", at the curling rink or in an adit, the results are announced in all other tunnels as well as in the internet.

The jury has been convinced by the concept of this both real and virtual space and its animated movie screening.
The price endowed with DM 20.000 was initiated 1997 by BauNetz and has become a solid institution since then.
