Office.Playlist #27
This version of the Office.Playlist is brought to you by:
Nicole runs
I began running after my first child to get rid of extra pregnancy weight, but also to create an oasis between the treadmill of work and the nappy-changing table. Small moments without a mobile phone, without the nappy pail, that only belonged to me. Above all, though: without Volker Rosin blaring something about a singing kangaroo on Powerplay. I run with my iPod - and it is totally up to me what plays next!
When you run, you start to fantasise. Your head has to do something while you’re jogging on those lonely Lobau trails. It didn’t take long for me to start fantasising about a marathon. Would I manage that in the shape I’m in? Answer: yes, but it will take a lot of discipline! I began blogging to discipline myself: it’s much harder to skip training when you’ve made it public...
The result bears the name Nicole läuft (Nicole runs) and it’s a running blog that I’ve kept since Summer 2011 every week at typischich.at, the official website of WIENERIN. A writing marathon has joined my running marathon.
And because the current edition of the Bene Trendletter is all about gender, here is the female runner’s input for this month’s topic: read my blog. And then read the blog by Achim Achilles in Spiegel. Not only because he’s simply a better runner.
Or is it that - as Barbara Riedl-Wiesinger (Monster Worldwide) believes - "it’s less a question of gender than it is a question of culture or personality"? Do Germans run differently than Austrians?
However. The playlist for the blog is crowdsourced. First and foremost, the blog consists of hints and motivational tips from committed readers. It began in preparation of the Vienna City Marathon 2012. I’ll let you know whether it helped... ;)
Ready, steady, go!
