Burges Salmon LLP

Architect: ID:SR (Sheppard Robson Interior Design), London

Burges Salmon is a law firm with a rich tradition and roots that go back to the 18th century. Recently the firm has enjoyed tremendous growth in both clients and personnel.

Live values, convey values

Quality plays an important role in every company area at Burges Salmon, one of the largest employers in downtown Bristol. From advising and representing clients to setting up work space. The new office building, One Glass Wharf, embodies the values of the firm and the design of the ca. 16,000 square metres spread over 6 floors for 650 employees should reflect this.

Functional design with a message

For this project, Burges Salmon worked closely with ID:SR, the interior design branch of the London architectural practice Sheppard Robson. With tailor-made products and services, Bene and B-Loos lived up to the high expectations of both the client and the architects.

The concept: If you work in knowledge management you need to show this in your offices. A good example is the generously designed library in the building’s atrium – modern, inspiring, inviting.
The basic structure, with its mix of two-person offices for partners and open space for standard work places, represents top quality, both functionally and regarding design. The screens have been shortened in height, giving an impression of lightness of the various zones and areas and encouraging communication.

The reception and waiting area conveys the client orientation. Room for thinking and the comfortable seating furniture by Carl Hansen in a pleasant ambience shorten the waiting time. Visitors’ offices with partitions of coloured glass combine optical accents with practicality. In the recreation areas the employees can relax in a stimulating atmosphere. There is also space here for casual, informal conversation. The bright design of the cafeteria leaves a pleasing impression.
