DaimlerChrysler Bank AG
Architect: Hinrichsmayer + Bertsch / Böblingen
Office Planning: Bene / Till
There are few brands whose name alone is associated with a comparable first class standing: DaimlerChrysler unmistakably stands for exclusiveness and tradition in the word's best sense - not only in automobiles but also concerning the financial transactions involved. On May 5 this year, DaimlerChrysler Bank AG, a business enterprise whose success story is unrivalled, issued an invitation for a very special public event.
During the first ten months of being launched as a full-fledged bank in July 2002, over 110,000 clients had entrusted funds worth Euro 2.8 billion to this renowned banking institution. The bank's own expectations were surpassed by far. Among the group of new clients, whose deposits average more than Euro 25,000 each, more than a third have yet to be won as new customers of the Group's automobile segment; in other words, DaimlerChrysler is about to tap into a vast store of cross-selling potential.
The number of DaimlerChrysler Bank staff working in Germany has almost doubled in the past six years: from approximately 750 employees in 1997 to more than 1,450 spread across ten different office locations. The time had come to relaunch the company's headquarters in a new building in Stuttgart.
A building befitting the brand image The newly-built DaimlerChrysler Bank building, covering 28,000 square metres in office space, now comprises 1,000 staff members who had previously been scattered across four different offices in Stuttgart. The symmetrical double-E-shaped building optimises communication and workflow through short distances. Architect duo Hinrichsmayer + Bertsch from Böbling have implemented the project in an open-design light-flooded environment.
Furnishing requirements focused on flexibility, lightness and transparency. Partners chosen for designing the Board room, meeting, conference and lounge areas were Bene and dealer TILL from Germany.
The conference area has been equipped with M_Com Tables and AL-K, while Folding_Com Tables and XT comply with all the functional demands made on meeting rooms; in the lounge areas, Coffice and High_Com Tables #2 invite people to stay, to perform mobile work and to communicate. A1, AL and AL-K are an expression of high standard in furnishing Board rooms; secretarial back offices have been furnished with B1, L3 and K2; they are perfect complements within an excellent concept of space.
