The construction of Volksbank Karlsruhe’s new headquarters on Ludwig-Erhard-Allee is a significant sign of urban development with its prestigious location in the new financial district of Karlsruhe. Moreover, for both clients and employees alike the prominent building is a symbol of the company’s strategic direction which focuses on transparency, workplace quality and sustainability.

The six storeys are covering a total area of 7,600 square meters and have accommodated approximately 250 employees since December 2008.The project was carried out with an allocated budget of 28 million Euro and construction was completed two months ahead of schedule.

Volksbank Karlsruhe is one of the oldest banks in Germany but it consistently stays ahead of the curve with regard to its position in the market. Standing strong despite recent economic woes, the new headquarters are a symbol for new undertakings.

After developing the macro and micro layouts with areas designated for back-office, management, meetings and so on, a suitable office furnishing scheme was developed. Following an intensive sampling phase, Bene was able to win the contract through the consistency of its proposed design concept.

The last-minute integration of approximately 50 employees from the merged Volksbank Durlach presented a challenge as the additional staff had to be worked into the finalised office concept. Thus, the flexibility of the modular designed areas and workstations was immediately put to the test.

Exclusive quality was an important factor in the selection of the furnishings. In addition to Bene, products by Fritz Hansen, Interstuhl, Moroso and Walter Knoll have also been specified at the new Volksbank Karlsruhe headquarters.
