Bene @ DLD 09

The publisher and entrepreneur Hubert Burda again hosted this year’s DLD (Digital - Life - Design) Conference in Munich. International masterminds, renowned experts and successful entrepreneurs discussed, for the fourth time, the topics of the 21st century and resulting consequences.

From 25 to 27 January, 2009 publisher Dr. Hubert Burda and high tech investor Dr. Yossi Vardi welcomed guests from all over the world at the DLD Conference in Munich - one of the most prestigious international events in the multimedia industry.

The motto of this year’s conference was "New Realities". Aside from digital innovations and trends the DLD also focused on art and design aspects, science and issues of sustainability.

The speakers included Marissa Mayer (Google), Nassim Taleb (Writer), Edwin Moses (Olympic winner), Chad Hurley (Youtube), Mitchell Baker (Facebook) etc.
Topics that were discussed ranged from philantrocapitalism the new age of "charity and social entrepreneurship" and 100 Million Uniques "How to create a user base and what are the benefits, and what comes next" to New Realities "How does our future change with the recent financial crisis, which opportunities exist and how will we look back at these changing times".

All presentations were filmed and are available along with a live blog on the DLD homepage.

DLD - Charity

Together with the Hochschule für Jüdische Studien Burda initiated the project "virtual library dedicated to the German-Jewish history." In this virtual library everyone can become a sponsor by donating for selected publications. Sponsorship is a symbolic purchase and helps to raise funding for the university.

Bene Partnership

Bene has furnished DLD from the beginning and thus actively contributes to implementing this unique idea. Furniture in the team room included the Filo Table and Filo Chairs, while the Coffice armchair could be spotted in an area that was reserved for bloggers; Rondo and Innovation C by Blå Station were displayed on the main stage, along with Catifa by Arper.
