Office.Info July/August 2010
Dear Readers,
Of course it’s possible to work anywhere; of course knowledge can be increased anywhere; of course it’s possible to be creative anywhere. Even the hottest summer won’t change that. But especially in the middle of the year, the rhythm always seems to take a different turn. For that reason we decided to investigate "Designer Holidays" this time, with the desire to find out where and how creative minds recharge their power and ideas.
Speaking of designers – please read our interview with the young Danish star Kasper Salto, who was just recently awarded the renowned Finn Juhl design prize by the Wilhelm Hansen Foundation and who talks about his preferences, rituals and priorities in his studio work.
In addition, Peter Handlgruber reflects on the world’s largest annual trade show on office trends, NEOCON, in the architectural city of Chicago, which of course is also known to have its own rhythm.
We hope that you find the reading material in our summer edition of Office.Info inspiring.
PS: Our feature on the subject of cult offices might even give you a few concrete suggestions…
Yours, the Bene editorial team
OFFICE TRENDS
More than ever, the office of the future is a place of encounter and interaction. Communication, networking and teamwork are crucial factors for success at this crossroads of knowledge. Nonetheless: sensory experience is also becoming more important for employees, customers and business partners.
OFFICE TRENDS
How do designers and architects spend their holidays? Do they even take holidays? Or do they use the summer for intensive work? Do they look for inspiration, distraction, leisure, etc.? In our summer edition of Office.Info, we tool a quick survey among the designers and architects who work with Bene.
OFFICE TRENDS
Like every year, the Merchandise Mart in Chicago in June was the venue for one of the world’s largest trade fairs in the office furniture industry. And it’s one of the most important fairs, because in Chicago the powerful American industry presents its products to dealers, customers and architects on their home turf.
PERSONALITIES
The evolving office: In our conversations with current personalities, we examine the claims, clichés and ideals that circulate about our workplaces. This time, Kasper Salto explains what it’s like to grow up in an atelier atmosphere, and what he treasures today about his own studio.
