A showroom on a scale of 1:1
In October Bene is opening a new location in the heart of Vienna. Its innovative architecture continues into the interior spaces. A voyage through the showroom and the worlds of office and work created by the international specialist in office furnishing. The new residential and commercial building by the Viennese architects at RATAPLAN is located be-tween the stock exchange, the Ringturm and the Maria am Gestade Church. The yellow façade is clearly visible from a distance. "The building is innovative in every way", says Thomas Bene, Managing Director of Bene AG. "I am extremely pleased that we were able to move our Vienna showroom into such a property. The building’s progressive architecture fits our corporate philosophy perfectly." The voyage through the showroom and the worlds of office and work created by Bene, the international specialist in office furnishing can begin. Behind the 80-metre-long display window on the ground floor of Neutorgasse 4-8 you catch a glimpse of the 960 square metre showroom with individual furnishings and office ensembles. In line with the interior design concept created by the Vienna firm SOLID archi-tecture, each individual furniture piece – including the Toguna, Causeways, and American Diner from the PARCS series, along with the new RM Room Module – is presented as an exhibit. The display panels identify the product and designer, as if you were proceeding from one painting to the next in a museum.
The lounge in the southern part of the building is the communicative heart of the newest and largest of Bene’s locations. In addition to the bar, lounge area and luxuriously appointed conference room, there is a lecture room with mobile dividing walls that allow the space to be arranged in various ways. When the large sliding doors are opened, this area can be expanded into the inner courtyard, which is full of greenery in the summer.
Living Showroom
On the two floors above, there are an additional 1,700 square metres of office and administrative space that have been designed as a Living Showroom. The idea behind this: customers should have the opportunity to compare theory and practice on-site. The everyday utility and feasibility of Bene’s design concepts are tested here. All-in-all, there are around 30 different office layouts and countless applica-tion scenarios, from the open office and smaller business boxes to the classic cubicle and manage-ment offices. The individual office compartments can be adapted at any time.
"Of course, we’ve paid attention to ensuring that there is continuity in the design throughout the entire office", says Sigrid Mayer, architect and person responsible for showroom design at Bene. "At the same time, we view the Living Showroom as a diversified urban landscape with many different scenar-ios and moods that have been carefully tuned to match the needs of the employees." Not least, the offices also serve as a stage for the latest technological developments and equipment standards. Spe-cial attention was paid to acoustics. You really can’t put such refinements into words. You have to hear, see and sense them on your own. What counts, as always, is the experience on a scale of 1:1.
