Diversity in the makingLinear, cubic, architectonic. Bene’s new wall system makes office spaces multifunctional and opens up more opportunities for transparency and views. The R-Platform builds on sophisticated design, creative diversity and flexibility, setting new standards in technology, acoustics and upgradability.
The R-Platform is an intelligent design module for double-glazed office and corridor walls. Bene's new room system for furnishing contemporary office layouts structures open office formats, creates spaces and opens them up at the same time, whenever you want. With its wide range of functions and designs, the R-Platform invites you to experience the interplay of transparency and privacy, of communication and concentration. The design has linear clarity and cubic qualities, unfolding in a beautiful combination of lines and surfaces in space – and its elegance will win you over.
The R-Platform has a broad number of options and high flexibility, thanks to its stable frame construction. Panels in varying sizes, materials and colours can be hung into the orthogonal structure on both sides – and easily removed for renovations. Available materi-als are melamine, veneer, fabric, Wallskin and glass. The wall can be organised by attach-ing shelves, storage boxes and accessories, transforming it into a piece of furniture.
As an office wall, the R-Platform creates acoustically and visually shielded areas. This is where it shows its true strength: each side can be equipped differently, allowing you to take full advantage of the wall’s potential. The R-Platform’s joints and wall organisation can be designed in completely different ways; storage elements can be mounted on the wall at any height. Even tables – from the entire Bene portfolio – can be hung in the joint. Wall-oriented workplaces are created in a way that reduces cost and materials.
As a classic corridor wall made completely of glass, the R-Platform stands for transparency and allows daylight into the office’s central areas. Panels made of different materials, and in full or partial segments, can be attached to the corridor walls. This makes it possible to have whatever amount of transparency you would like, from communicative transparency to complete privacy. For the first time, the integration of drywalls into a complex wall system is possible. Nevertheless, the uniform visual look of the wall remains guaranteed, because the same floor and ceiling rails and pilaster strips are used.
"For the R-Platform, I was looking for a formal code, a consistent feature for the different elements that would shape and create spaces", explains designer Johannes Scherr. And he found the pilaster strip. Made of aluminium, 35 mm wide, it holds the frameless glass ele-ments in their position, covers the posts and runs both horizontally and vertically through the space. Their striking appearance emphasises the rails in the contrasting colours of black, white and anodised aluminium.
A tolerant all-round talent
The R-Platform can go up to heights of 4.00 metres, and the wall is 106 mm thick. Panels are available, depending on the material, in heights from 195 mm to room height, and in widths up to 2.40 metres. The glass panels can also be designed individually - either in-stalled as a whole wall, as a lateral wall element, an over door panel or as a window ele-ment, anywhere in the wall, in double-glazing with 6- or 8-mm glass. Hinged and sliding doors are also available in various models: from glass to solid-core doors with or without an over door panel. In addition, horizontal blinds can be integrated into the double-glazed R-Platform. They can be progressively adjusted – manually or electrically. Several blinds can even be adjusted to the same height with an optional synchronised control. The slats are about 25 mm wide and are available in the colours black, white and aluminium.
The R-Platform has many interesting technological features: it offers three acoustic quality levels, which can be adjusted at any time, up to 48 dB Rw, as well as freely positionable joint heights and easy electrification. An even better level of acoustic quality can be ob-tained with the combined acoustic absorber of the A / αw up to 0.8 class: 80% of the sound is absorbed and only 20% of the sound is reflected into the room. The R-Platform is also flexible in terms of building loads (+/- 25 mm) and ceiling movements (up to 10 mm). This is achieved by a clever trick: a telescopic mechanism is located directly under the post in the floor rail, which brings the wall into the proper position. This technical innovation enables not only fast assembly, it also means the wall can be levelled under full loads at a later date, for example when the building settles.
As an all-round talent and thanks to well-planned junctions and connections, the R-Platform can be combined with all other Bene room systems. This makes it a building block for creat-ing differentiated office landscapes with different room typologies and moods - an office that occupies the exciting space between openness, communication, transparency, privacy and discretion. Apropos: with sound absorption levels up 48 dB Rw – the R-Platform fulfils the highest requirements in acoustics, contributing to a pleasant atmosphere. You can hardly make a room better.
