RM Room Module: Everything in order.

The RM Room Module by Bene is a freestanding hybrid combining a dividing wall and a stor-age/shelving system. The heart of this room divider is a stable aluminium frame that can be expanded on both sides with panels, boxes, shelves, desks and other furnishings: it’s everything from a dividing wall with acoustic value to a perfect workplace.

In the past, when people wanted to divide up big, open working areas – open offices – they put up partitions and shelving had to be added separately. The RM Room Module does both of these things at once – and a whole lot more. This hybrid of a dividing wall and shelving provides a superior interior infrastructure component with slim, minimalist design. Freestanding, self-supporting and acoustically effective, the RM Room Module creates the perfect sense of ‘place’ for every requirement - and all of this without affecting the building’s structure. "The challenge was to do something worthwhile with the
notion of the dividing wall and to expand and enhance it for functions such as storage and desks, thus saving both material and space", says Johannes Scherr, designer of the RM Room Module.


Great design options.

The RM Room Module is flexible and modular. Starting at 60 cm, it can be broadened in millimetre steps to around 2.40 metres and heightened from 59 cm to 211 cm. The core aluminium frame, with cast aluminium corners and an integrated cable duct can be fitted on both sides with boxes, cabinets, glass or perspex sheets, openings, panels, bookshelves, desks, lamps and other small furnishing fix-tures for the daily needs of an office. "It is a parameterised system that lets you chose the dimensions and include integrated elements such as shelving / cabinets / storage spaces", says Johannes Scherr. When a desk is added, you save two support legs and gain a new work space. The RM Room Module is a multifunctional room divider that, as a vertical and very visible furnishing, can bring fundamental change to an office’s structure and layout. Its simplest use is as a dividing wall. This allows you to de-fine enclosed areas in the open office. These areas can be enhanced by attaching wall cabinets, stor-age spaces or glass elements, and openings promote transparency. A lamp and a desk can upgrade the RM Room Module to a workplace. A single unit is doubled by placing desks on both sides.Individualists can create personalised surroundings with wall cabinets and covered
panels.


High density of use.

Each additional section increases the density of use: shelves offer space for files, pinboards and per-sonal items. RM Room Modules are readily expanded with additions, and multiple workplaces can dock on to them in a row. Placed opposite as wall elements, they form a space for teamwork in the centre. One of them, for example, could be utilised as the library, while a high desk or bar could be attached on the rear side for relaxing and informal chatting.

The impact and styles of the RM Room Module are not only in the eye of the beholder, but also in the hands of the people who plan and design with this system; it is they who determine the issues of height, whether to have more wall or more shelves, transparency, open or closed spaces, smooth surfaces or textile cladding. The RM Room Module can be designed as a facade along the office corri-dors: it can be furnished with opaque surfaces, openings and functional elements. It can project into the available space, creating places with desks, filing shelves and bookshelves. Specific colours and
materials such as melamine, veneer, glass, perspex and colourful fabrics can turn it into an attractive expression of corporate identity. It can create a zoning effect and provide transparency for light, eye-lines and communication. Moreover, the acoustic version, with an Alphaw value of 0.75, absorbs up to 75 percent of any sound energy that occurs. Not least, the RM Room Module is the foundation for a satisfying and successful work environment– and satisfied employees are the most sustainable in-vestment any company can make.
