New Veneers at Bene

AMERICAN WALNUT

The colouring is luscious dark brown to black-violet. The texture has a generous, elegant, decorative grain. The ambience is centered, restrained and self-confident. Modern and urban.

Found in:

North-Eastern states in USA and Canada.

Use:

Furnishing wood for premium cabinet makers and furniture. Its use is just as common for interior fittings as it is for musical instruments (piano) and sculpture.

Description:

The heartwood matures into a luscious dark-brown to black-violet colouring. Annual rings are accentuated clearly. The wood is very decorative, hard, large-pored, and is varnished open-pored with matt varnish.


MACASSAR

The colouring is black with reddish brown stripes running through. Occasionally marbelled, reminiscent of horn. The texture is strikingly hard and elegant. The aura is exotic and dominant, commanding authority.

Found in:

South-East Asia, Indonesia, Celebes, Molucass, Borneo.

Use:

Macassar ebony is prized as a special wood for the production of luxury items and musical instruments, but also for furniture, planking and parquet flooring.

Description:

Macassar is one of the most valuable of the 200 or so ebony types. The heartwood is black and streaked by irregular red-brown layers that do not always run tangentially. Occasionally marbled. The rock-hard, coarse-pored wood is varnished by Bene matt and open-pored.


ZEBRANO

The colouring is grey-brown to yellow with distinct dark brown zebra-like stripes. The texture is vigorous and tangible haptically. The aura is exotic, initiative with superior vitality and lightheartedness.

Found in:

West Africa, Cameroon, Gabon.

Use:

Zebrano is used for manufacturing furniture, but also to produce many other luxury items such as premium quality car armatures, board cladding, musical instruments and parquet flooring.

Description:

The heartwood is grey-brown to yellowy, gleaming matt, and has continuous 1 mm wide dark brown strips about 5 - 10 mm apart. The zebra-like stripes are characteristic. The very hard, coarse-pored wood is varnished by Bene matt and open-pored.


CANADIAN MAPLE

The colouring is cream white with a reddish tinge. The texture is extremely consistent, fine and glossy. The grain is mellow and has a fine structure. The aura is restrained, subtly gleaming and has a discrete elegance.

Found in:

Eastern part of North America, Canada.

Use:

Canadian maple is used primarily for musical instruments, for veneers, parquet and construction of furniture.

Description:

The conspicuously uniform texture, the fine pores and the light colouring are particular characteristics of maple. In contrast to native maple, the wood is considerably harder and does not tend to yellow with age. Bene varnishes with a semi-gloss varnish into a closed-pore surface.


OAK

The natural colouring is grey-brown to yellowpricked. The texture is concise, vigorous and tangible hapti-cally. The aura is assertive, self-assured and unpretentious.

Found in:

Central Europe (especially France) and Near East.

Use:

Furniture, interior fittings, veneers, shipbuilding, railway sleepers, casks, windows, doors, parquet flooring, bridge construction.

Description:

The heartwood is grey-brown to yellow-pricked and exhibits clearly delimited annual rings. The coarse pores are visible as distinct pore channels and arranged around the annual rings. This gives rise to a concise and typical grain. The hard wood is open-pored varnished with matt varnish. Bene stains oak in three tones: Oak Sylt, Oak Amaretto and Oak Vulcano.


BEECH

The colouring is light brown to pale yellow with a slight reddish tinge. The texture is balances and harmonious with gleaming matt reflective surfaces. The aura conveys a sense of redeemed elegance and leaves room for individuality.

Found in:

Central and South-East Europe.

Use:

Furniture, parquet flooring, stairs, sleepers, peel wood for blockboards, layered and press woods, carriage construction, tool components, casks, turner wood.

Description:

The wood is light brown to pale yellow with slight reddish colouring. Beech demonstrates its diversity and quality in the most diverse of stain tones. The wood is fine-pored with brilliant matt reflective surfaces. The small, dark spots are typical. Bene stains beech in eight colour tones: Beech Bianco, Beech Rosé, Beech Almond, Beech Honey, Beech Havana, Beech Burgundy, Beech Umbra, Beech Grey.


AMERICAN CHERRY TREE

The colouring is pale yellow to red-brown with clear markings. The texture is fine and balanced with light, radiant reflective surfaces. The aura is of superior quality conveying fine elegance, tradition and consistency.

Found in:

Canada and North-Eastern USA.

Use:

Veneers, solid wood furniture, interior fittings, wall and ceiling cladding, parquet flooring, inlays.

Description:

The heartwood is pale yellow to red-brown. Darker than the European cherry. Fine-pore wood with clearly contrasting annual rings. Fine core rays appear as bright, shiny reflecting surfaces. Amongst the typical features are the gums — black rubber-like deposits in the annual rings. Bene stains cherry in five tones: Cherry Honey, Cherry Siena, Cherry Burgundy, Cherry Bourbon, Cherry Colombo,
