CLEANLY PACKAGED

Bene proactively tackles the issue of climate protection and packages all deliveries in an environmentally friendly way.

Time to pack:

The T-platform, along with all other Bene products, is subject to the stringent Austrian Packaging Ordinance: after assembly at the customer site all packaging material is returned and sorted into the separate waste streams of cardboard, foil, plastics and wood. Environmental expertise counts even in packaging. The packaging materials must allow any volatile substances to escape.

PRODUCT PACKAGING

When implementing the requirements of the Austrian Packaging Regulation (VerpackVO 1996 + VerpackVO amendment 2006), Bene attaches great importance to separable packaging variants. This means that, after installation at the customer site in Austria, the entire packaging material is returned by Bene technicians. Bene therefore has no connection to ARA (Altstoff Recycling Austria AG) or any other similar regional or nationwide collection systems.

In our export markets, disposal of packaging is (if return transportation does not make sense for economic reasons) carried out locally by the technicians on the basis of country–specific laws and regulations.

The plant has a separate area for sorting the packaging materials. Should re-use no longer be possible because of damage, the packaging is internally collected and disposed of. Franchised disposal companies recycle the sorted material in accordance with regulations.

PACKAGING MATERIALS

Bene uses the following packaging materials:
  • Paperboard containers, boxes: General protection of furniture
  • Cardboard honeycomb: To prevent individual furniture components from damaging each other
  • Plastic wrap: Surface protection and secondary packaging to secure packages
  • Bubble wrap: Protection against impact
  • Plastic pockets: For packaging small parts such as screws, fittings, etc.
  • Fleece: For protecting veneered surfaces such as tabletop work surfaces
  • Plastic straps: For attaching packaging to pallets
  • Wood, pallets, crates: Packaging frames for high-quality furniture
  • Adhesive tape: To secure accompanying documents and for sealing packaging
  • Labels: Labelling of packaging units
  • Air bags: For filling gaps to secure packages
  • Styrofoam: To prevent individual glass components from damaging each other

The packaging used by Bene is selected on ecological grounds and not only on the basis of criteria such as protection and stability. For example, packaging should also enable the emission of any volatile substances that are still present.

MERCHANDISE

Bought-in items, mainly office swivel chairs and visitor chairs, are delivered on a "just-in-time" and commission basis by the suppliers to the factory and shipped together with Bene products.

LOGISTICS / MATERIAL TRANSPORT

Depending on the requirements, Bene delivers by rail, ship, truck or with the company’s vehicle fleet. Ecological ramifications, route planning and the distance to be travelled are all criteria for the selection of transportation mode.

Within Europe, Bene ships using swap bodies which are transported to the desired delivery address via rail or freight forwarder. For transport by rail, Bene has a separate loading point at the Waidhofen/Ybbs train station. Return transport of residual materials and returned wares is also performed with swap bodies. Using freight forwarders guarantees the minimisation of empty runs when shipping by truck.

Last year, over 6,300 truck containers were loaded with Bene products at the factory gates. Additionally, more than 100 shipments were shipped by air or sea, as well as over 500 containers by rail.

Bene is constantly upgrading and extending its vehicle fleet and attaches great importance to economic and ecological considerations. For example, newly purchased commercial vehicles satisfy the thresholds of Emission Class Euro 5.
