PEFC Award: Companies doing good for the forest

PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification) is the world's leading institution for promoting, ensuring and marketing sustainable forest management. Timber and timber products bearing the PEFC label demonstrably originate from ecologically, economically and socially sustainable forestry and support the timber supply of tomorrow.

"CoC - Chain of Custody" for Bene

On Thursday, 2 June 2022, on Austria's highest mountain, the Großglockner, the Chain of Custody Award was presented to Bene. As an international furniture manufacturer, Bene focuses on sustainability in accordance with the PEFC criteria. This is because Bene is fully committed to a transparent value chain from the forest to the product.

PEFC goals

PEFC’s aim is to preserve the forest with its many important functions for future generations, so that they too can maintain the useful, protective, welfare and recreational functions of the forests. The PEFC concept therefore encompasses economic, ecological and social aspects:

  • Conservation and appropriate enhancement of forest resources and their contribution to global carbon cycles.
  • Maintaining the health and vitality of forest ecosystems
  • Maintenance and enhancement of the production function of forests (wood and non-timber products)
  • Conservation, protection and appropriate enhancement of biodiversity in forest ecosystems
  • Maintenance and appropriate improvement of the protective function in forest management (especially soil and water)
  • Maintenance of other socio-economic functions and conditions
