DB Schenker has just opened its first fully solar-powered logistics centre in Dubai, with a total area of 33,000 m2. Situated near Al Maktoum International Airport, it is the central logistics hub for the Middle East. Bene was invited to furnish one of the most important buildings on the site – DB Schenker’s Regional Head Office Middle East & Africa and the head office for the United Arab Emirates.
Bene furnished a complete office building with four levels, from the cafeteria to the management offices and meeting rooms. Different zones are combined to meet all the needs of a contemporary workplace setting and the design harmonises perfectly with the company’s corporate colours.
Around 280 classic workstations are furnished with Bene T-Platforms, to allow undisturbed, focused work within an open-plan office layout. Lift desks bring movement into the daily routine and make it simple to change working positions between sitting down and standing up. Plenty of storage space is included too, with practical, minimalist CUBE_S Boxes and the robust KX boxes, designed for use in the open-plan office.
The communication zones were created using the PARCS upholstered furniture range and SETTLE in a bold red, combined with neutral grey. These are the specific corporate colours of the logistics company, and are a consistent theme throughout the design concept in all the different spaces. The warm tones of wooden TIMBA stools are the perfect complement for the red PARCS Wing Sofas & Chairs, and Settle seating. The end result is a feel-good atmosphere that promotes communication and interaction between teams.
DB Schenker is the brand name used by Deutsche Bahn AG for the transport and logistics business division of the DB Group. DB Schenker employs over 75,800 people in around 2,000 locations and is the world’s leading provider of logistics services by land, air and sea.
