Bielefeld-based Schüco has enlarged its company headquarters: as well as constructing completely new buildings and extensions, some existing structures on the Schüco Campus have also been converted. Among them is the former production hall, which has been transformed into a modern “new work” office building renovated in line with sustainable principles.
What makes this particular set of offices unique are the glimpses that remain here and there of their former life as a production facility. For reasons of both aesthetics and sustainability, for example, elements such as old doors and windows have been recycled with Cradle to Cradle certification.
Bene has provided the furnishings for a pilot space on the ground floor. Twenty-two workstations as well as collaboration zones were planned and created in a space measuring 385 m2. Height-adjustable LEVEL Lift Pure work tables allow a wide variety of work to be done while standing or sitting. On the subject of sitting, incidentally, employees can do so particularly comfortably and ergonomically on the RIYA swivel chairs. Meanwhile, FRAME_S walls create the perfect framework conditions in the open-plan office. This workplace system allows separate areas for teams and departments to be created without having to interfere structurally in the building fabric. All the other elements are highly functional and meet all the requirements for modern design, such as CUBE_S products and CT Pedestals.
The options available for meetings are equally varied: PARCS Causeways, Wing Chairs and Pop-up Stools from the PARCS series create upholstered zones for communication in anthracite, grey and yellow – a colour concept for which the PIXELs are also a perfect match. For example, the flexible PIXEL elements have been used to construct a high table, in combination with the TIMBA stools. This provides a stimulating atmosphere for conversation, while all the ideas generated in the process can be displayed, edited, saved and shared there and then on the multimedia IDEA WALL.
THE eye-catcher in this office landscape, however, is undoubtedly the oversized Giant PIXEL, which can also be used as a meeting space.
