COOMO by Bene – Design That Grows with Life and Spaces

26 February 2026. Vienna / Waidhofen an der Ybbs – At a time when so much is designed for rapid consumption, Bene is deliberately setting a counterpoint. With COOMO, the new modular sofa system, the Austrian office furniture manufacturer has collaborated with the Swedish design studio Form Us With Love to create a piece of furniture that not only transforms spaces, but also ways of thinking.

Design with a future

COOMO is more than a sofa. It is a statement for slow furniture, for quality over short-lived trends, for responsibility instead of a throwaway mentality. Developed in collaboration with the Swedish design studio Form Us With Love, this modular sofa embodies a shift in perspective in furniture design: away from replacing entire products, toward renewal at the level of individual components. COOMO is conceived as an open system whose modular structure allows individual elements to be replaced, thereby promoting renewal, reuse, and recycling.

Innovative Construction

At the heart of the design is a specially developed, revolutionary internal structure that consistently combines durability with adaptability for the first time. All components—from covers and upholstery to molded foam, frames, and substructures—are not glued together, but engineered so they can be replaced individually. What remains intact is preserved. Only what wears out or is meant to change aesthetically is renewed. In this way, COOMO responds to the question of how furniture can be used over many years without losing quality or relevance.

A never-ending story: sustainability as an ongoing process

Sustainability is not understood as a static state, but as a dynamic cycle. The removable covers can be cleaned or replaced with new fabrics, continually opening up new aesthetic possibilities. The substructure made of expanded polypropylene (EPP) is lightweight, dimensionally stable, impact-absorbing, and 100 percent recyclable. All components used can be separated by material type and returned to the material cycle at the end of their life cycle.

Flexibility for Changing Spaces and Uses

Using just three elements—a corner element, a single element, and a pouf—COOMO can be flexibly configured, expanded, and reconfigured. The sofa responds to changing spatial requirements as well as different forms of use, from offices and hybrid working environments to more residential settings. The system is complemented by functional details such as a reduced base in black or “mud,” optionally with an integrated USB-C charging port. COOMO also finds its place outdoors: in a weather-resistant version with selected fabrics, the system is suitable for terraces, gardens, or semi-public areas, consistently expanding its range of applications.

With COOMO, Bene expresses its high standards of quality, innovation, and responsibility. The sofa stands for conscious use of resources, for repairability instead of replacement, and for design that grows over time.
