Dubai Design Week took place for the fifth time from November 11 to 16, 2019. Dubai Design Week is the largest design festival in the Middle East and strengthens Dubai's image as a design capital. The festival was able to attract over 90,000 visitors to the Dubai Design District this year. The six-day program included over 200 activities from the fields of interior & product design, architecture, multimedia & graphic design with talks, workshops, exhibitions and installations. One highlight was Bene's art installation featuring PIXEL Artwork by Ibraheem Khamayseh.
PIXEL YOUR ARTWORK
Artist Ibraheem Khamayseh staged PIXEL with his artistic Arabic calligraphy of the word "friendship", capturing the spirit of teamwork and PIXEL. PIXEL is the flexible building block that enables a new way of collaboration. PIXEL is a table, a bench, a stool, a stand, a shelf or all at the same time. The simple arrangement of the boxes creates settings for different work situations. The installation consisted of an oversized mega PIXEL surrounded by variant PIXEL settings. Ibraheem's calligraphy blended perfectly on the natural surface of the PIXEL. It was a much photographed crowd puller at this year's Dubai Design Week.
PREMIERE OF COFFEE NOOXS
In addition to the PIXEL installation, visitors were also able to experience an innovative piece of furniture for integrating the coffee machine into any office setting: COFFEE NOOXS.Created in cooperation with Nespresso Professional, COFFEE NOOXS creates a perfect environment for informal meetings, promotes collaboration in companies and gives coffee breaks a prominent space. The coffee break is thus transformed into an inspiring get-together in a relaxed atmosphere between meals and further enhances existing zones for "collaboration and interaction". Visitors to Dubai Design Week were able to recover from the hustle and bustle of the design fair with good coffee in a stylish ambience.
ABOUT THE ARTIST IBRAHEEM KHAMAYSEH
Born in Riyadh, Ibraheem is an emerging Arab artist, illustrator and calligrapher. He studied graphic design at Al Najah University, one of the leading art universities in Palestine. He started his career as a graphic designer in advertising agencies in Palestine. In 2013, he moved to Tashkeel in the United Arab Emirates. He got his passion for calligraphy from his father, a renowned calligrapher.
