EOOSEOOS, founded in 1995 by Martin Bergmann, Gernot Bohmann and Harald Gründl, is an international design studio from Vienna that is now active in the fields of furniture design/product design and social design. After a decade of shop design for clients such as Armani and Adidas, the social design division was established in 2010, which realises design projects in the Global South with NGOs such as the Gates Foundation and the Red Cross. As an author design studio, EOOS develops furniture and products for international manufacturers in Europe and North America, including Alessi, Bulthaup, Carl Hansen & Søn, Laufen, Lamy, Walter Knoll, Keilhauer and Geiger.
For EOOS, design is a poetic discipline. The starting point for design projects in author design is design history and corporate culture, which are translated into a specific object language based on long-standing partnerships. The ‘poetic analysis’ is an EOOS design tool that formulates images, rituals and stories as guidelines and ideas for projects.
EOOS has won over 250 international design awards and represented Austria at the Architecture Biennale in Venice in 2016 and the Triennale in Milan in 2019. Exhibitions include the Victoria & Albert Museum London, the Design Museum London, the Museum für Gestaltung Zürich and the Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe Hamburg. Solo exhibitions at the Galleria Carla Sozzani in Milan, the Kunsthaus Wien and the MAK Vienna. In 2025 she published her book "EOOS Designing Impact. Impact as a design goal", edited by Lars Müller.
Spaces are like tools that people can use to realize their needs.
