Baker McKenzie is one of the world’s largest law firms, operating more than 70 offices across 46 countries with approximately 13,000 employees. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the firm decided to radically rethink its office design, most recently during the relocation of its London offices. The objective was to eliminate traditional room structures—such as the typical cellular offices—dismantle hierarchical barriers among employees, and foster open and collaborative communication across different departments.

In collaboration with Bene and INC Solutions Group, Baker McKenzie has now comprehensively modernised its Dubai branch. The office is located on the 16th floor of Al Fattan Currency House, featuring a spacious and open office landscape characterised by bright parquet flooring, large-area carpets, and a distinctive industrial-style ceiling. A restrained, muted colour palette is dynamically enriched with carefully placed vibrant accents.

The open-plan workspace is divided into various work zones: individual workstations are arranged in different configurations and ensembles, offering varying levels of separation from the open space depending on the required level of privacy and concentration. Several DOCKLANDS Dock-In Bays by Bene provide a retreat for focused, secluded work. Designed by Pearson Lloyd, these bays offer targeted acoustic and visual shielding, even in a bustling environment.

In addition to several standalone, fully glazed private offices, multiple NOOXS Think Tanks have been installed. These modular phone booths provide high levels of sound insulation, significantly reducing external noise and ensuring complete privacy when required.

Other workstations are more open in design, featuring height-adjustable LEVEL PURE LIFT desks and the dual LEVEL LIFT TWIN solution. T-PANELS ensure both separation and communication. For more dynamic group discussions, a PORTS Table is available nearby, ideal for collaborative project work and brainstorming sessions.

In a workspace shaped by agile and often interdisciplinary teamwork, the lounge area plays a crucial role. The Baker McKenzie lounge offers both relaxed, informal seating around the elevated PORTS Table, complemented by TIMBA Stool bar stools. Behind it, separated by a strategically placed PORTS STORAGE shelving unit, lies the actual relaxation area—featuring comfortable PORTS Active Chairs upholstered in leather and elegant C-SIDE Tables.
